Why is the Left shifting blame away from the 9/11 terrorists?

Ilhan Omar famously said that on 9/11, "some people did something."

The New York Times said yesterday in a since-deleted tweet that "airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center."

So why does the Left, from Omar to The Times, minimize the significance of what happened on 9/11?

The sad answer? It's not because they "fail to understand."
