In the Obama era, the Left argued there was nothing exceptional about America.

Today, both sides embrace American exceptionalism:

Republicans believe America is exceptionally good.

Democrats believe America is exceptionally evil.

Obviously, Republicans are right, but why does the Left have such a negative vision of America?
